Operation Raksha: Gonda Police Conduct Inspections at Spas, Hotels to Curb Human Trafficking

Gonda: As part of the statewide Operation Raksha campaign, Gonda Police carried out a special inspection and awareness drive on Tuesday to strengthen the safety of women and children and prevent human trafficking.

Acting under the direction of Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal, a joint team comprising the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), SJPU, Aparajita Social Committee, and Childline inspected spa centres, massage parlours, hotels and surrounding areas across the Kotwali Dehat and Dhanepur police station limits.

During the drive, officials verified employee identities, records and mandatory documents maintained by establishments. Operators were instructed not to employ anyone without valid identity proof and required documentation. They were also directed to immediately report any suspicious activity or suspected cases of exploitation to the local police.

The team conducted awareness sessions for staff, business owners and members of the public on issues such as human trafficking, child labour, child marriage, child sexual abuse, and crimes against women and children. Participants were informed about relevant legal provisions and encouraged to remain vigilant against exploitation and abuse.

Citizens were urged to promptly inform the police if they encounter any suspected case of human trafficking, exploitation or abuse involving women or children.

As part of the outreach programme, officials publicised key emergency helplines, including Women’s Helpline 1090, Emergency Response Support System 112, Childline 1098, Women’s Helpline 181, and the Cyber Helpline 1930. Awareness pamphlets were also distributed among the public.

The 15-day Operation Raksha campaign, being conducted across Uttar Pradesh from July 10 to 24, aims to prevent human trafficking and child exploitation while enhancing public awareness and strengthening the protection of women and children. Gonda Police said such enforcement and awareness initiatives will continue to ensure a safer environment across the district.
